FitBallet recently came to LA from NY and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Owner Julie reached out to me to try out her class and said that no dance experience was required, even though the name had ballet in it. A lot of the moves were ballet inspired (pliés, relevés, grand battements, tendus) but ballet form wasn’t strictly enforced. The other moves in the class or conditioning/toning moves like sit-ups, push ups, leg lifts, bicycles and arm work with weights. Half of it was done standing and half of it was done on a yoga mat.We did the same warmup series twice, and then 2 repetitions of circuits each containing 3 different exercises. Having danced for more than a decade, I really appreciated the deep stretching at the end. Overall though, I thought the class was a good workout, but a bit repetitive. This is a unique workout though, so check it out if you want to change up your routine!
