Class: Prevail
Location: West Hollywood
Work-out: Boxing/Circuit Training
Difficulty: Level 3.5
Next day soreness: 1.5
Duration: 45 min
Sweat Level: Moderately Sweaty
Parking: Street parking
Amenities: Shower, water for purchase, free glove and wrap rental for first class and $5 for each rental after.*
Requirements for class: Wear sneakers, bring water, bring your own gloves and wraps (highly recommended). Also, tightly lace your shoes, wear a tight headband/hair tie and pants that will not fall down since you’ll be doing a lot of jumping and won’t be able to adjust with gloves on.
*The most important thing you will take away from this review is that you should most definitely bring your own gloves and wraps, even if it is your first class. The rental gloves reek of other people’s sweat, and it will stay on your hands after many washes. I learned this the hard way. The gloves and wraps are not expensive; you can make up the cost of renting after attending 5 classes, and believe me, buying your own is well worth not having to cringe at smelling like someone else’s sweat.
Other than that, the class was great. I first discovered Prevail at the Nike Training Club Tour and really liked the workout we did there, since it wasn’t hardcore boxing. Trainer Lo and assistant trainer Erika were good at teaching the newbies the basics, and it was a good way to shake up a regular workout. I will definitely come here again since there was cardio, core and toning all involved in this 45 minute sesh. The clientele isn’t hardcore boxers either. The gym is a favorite of models and high profile bloggers.
